From Chapters Two & Three

‘Can I ask the name? Is there going to be a drum roll?’

‘Don’t be cheeky! It’s Bailing Homes and Renovations.’

As soon as he returned to his desk, he googled the company and clicked on the site - his lip curled as he saw everyone gathered together, smiling on the home page...but it quickly dropped when he saw who was in the middle...

‘He’s just the most arrogant, narrow-minded, self-serving, patronising bastard I have EVER met!’

It was six in the evening and Jen had met her mate Gina for a drink at the local wine bar.

‘...I mean he’s just...impossible!’

‘He seemed alright when you met him in the coffee shop!’

‘Oh that was just a fleeting “hello!” You can’t judge someone from just that! He’s just-‘

‘God! THAT gorgeous is he?’

‘Excuse me?’

‘Oh come on Jen! You haven’t stopped going on about him!’

‘Yes because he’s so annoying!!!! God! The sooner he gets out of my life the better!’

***

‘She’s obstinate, naive and just hasn’t a clue what she’s doing!’

‘Oh right! So you fancy her then!’

‘What?! You are seriously out of your mind!’

‘Mate! You have not stopped going on about her since I phoned! You were all for her when you met her in the coffee shop.’

‘That’s different; it was just a quick hello!  She’s an obstruction and I’m just trying to do my job!’

His friend laughed. ‘If you say so mate!’

***

‘Let me get one thing straight Gina - I do not fancy him alright? I’m only interested in doing my job!’

Gina shrugged. ‘OK! Fine!’

***

‘One thing’s certain - she’s an obstacle! I just want to my job properly and get the company where it should be- nothing more! I mean it!’ Rob saved his work and sent the e-mail he was working on.

‘If you say so mate! If you say so...’

From Chapter Ten

As she went out of the room, his eye fell on her mobile again, picking it up, he tried her passcode but kept getting it wrong.

Suddenly she came back into the kitchen. ‘Sorry about that!’

‘Everything OK?’

‘Yeah! Just having a natter! Right!’ She picked up her phone.

Rob sweated. ‘Wait!’

‘What’s wrong?’

‘Look...just-just before you look, you have to know that it was in the heat of the moment - I was angry!’ ‘Rob what are you-’ Suddenly, she heard a ping and looked down to see the e-mail that he had been so desperately trying to prevent her from seeing.
